Tours on Matagorda Island

Matagorda Island State Park offers a variety of tours - history tour which cover the origins of the island 5000 years ago through the beginnings of World War II and include tours of the lighthouse and gravesites, migratory bird tours conducted by naturalists, and beachcombing tours which teach about the ecosystems of a gulf barrier island

		History Tour:

			Saturday, May 12, 2001     		10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  			Saturday, June 9, 2001			10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.


		Beachcombing and Shelling Tour:

			Sunday, May 6, 2001			8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
			Friday, June 8, 2001			9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
			Sunday, June 10, 2001			8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

		Migratory Bird Tour:

			Sunday, May 5, 2001			10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.


		

Tours begin at Texas Park and Wildlife Headquarters in Port O'Connor and travel to the island by ferry. Tours are limited so it is necessary to make reservations early. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure time.

Tour fees are in addition to transportation fee:
